If the key to the heart is food, then it only makes sense that Birmingham’s food scene is playing a major part in the city’s recent growth. Of course, the food is only one reason we love Birmingham so much; there are plenty of other things that make this city a fantastic spot to live! But we’re thrilled that both downtown and the surrounding areas have seen a significant number of unique, delicious restaurants open recently, and the trend doesn’t look like it’s going to stop anytime soon. At LAH Real Estate, we love living, working and playing in Birmingham as well as enjoying what the city has to offer in great food! Here are a few places we love.
Nabeel’s Cafe & Market – Homewood
This pleasant restaurant serves Mediterranean food with an unmatchable level of friendliness. Besides the great atmosphere, Nabeel’s also brings a wonderful combination of gyros, unique burgers, lamb chops, and more. Make sure to try the mint tea while you are there, and browse the attached shop before you leave!
Taco Morro Loco – Avondale
This authentic Mexican restaurant serves up some of the best tacos in Alabama, along with tortas, quesadillas, and more. You can eat inside or outside at this cozy spot, or take your meal over to Avondale Brewery and enjoy it with a local beer! Bonus points are awarded to Taco Morro Loco for having a food truck.
Red Pearl Restaurant & Super Oriental Market – Homewood
Red Pearl accomplishes the holy trifecta of restaurants – quality, quantity, and affordability. This rare accomplishment is one of many things that make this restaurant-market combination even more impressive than it already would have been. A favorite amongst locals, this is a spot you can’t miss!
Grand Bohemian Hotel – Mountain Brook
This relatively new addition to Mountain Brook has only brought positive results to the city. With an “Alice in Wonderland” theme, the Grand Bohemian offers purple chairs, endless artwork, and luxurious pool tables. If you think the food can’t match the experience, you’d be wrong! The menu is filled with wonderful options that will not disappoint.
Saw’s – Various Locations
Alabama loves its barbecue, and Saw’s has taken advantage of this love. With three different locations serving different meals, patrons aren’t likely to tire of the food anytime soon! Fried pickles, pulled pork, fried green tomatoes, fried okra, and sweet tea chicken guarantee you will leave satisfied. And of course, you can’t forget about Alabama’s first true love – white sauce!
Twisted Root Burger Co. – Vestavia
One of Vestavia’s many great eateries, Twisted Root brings high-quality burgers with an abundance of toppings to the Birmingham area. This restaurant started in Texas, but has grown very popular in Birmingham. With delicious food, a well-stocked bar, and an amazing outdoor experience, we can see why!
Birmingham Knows Food!
These amazing restaurants only cover the tiniest portion of mouth-watering food spots in the greater Birmingham area. Sadly, we can’t name every great restaurant (it would take hours), but ask your LAH agent their favorite spots when moving to Alabama! No matter what, you’re guaranteed to find something you like.
